RENOVATION

Renovating buildings is the core of our company. We take great pride in applying diligence to every facet of the construction process. From the first time we meet to the final walk-through, you can expect the best from every individual on our job site. We work hard to establish a clean, organized environment which in turn fosters relationships and better work. As we move through demolition, waste is scrutinized and divided down to screws and fasteners for recycling. All clean wood, metals, plastic, and concrete are recycled and we continue to find ways to further reduce the waste stream as new facilities come online. During this time, we also take care to create temporary walls around affected living spaces and install air cleaning devices to minimize dust and keep you and everyone on the site breathing a bit easier. Throughout construction, we encourage employees and subs alike to make suggestions for better results or to stop the process if health or safety appears to be compromised. We also understand that a construction site is not the most desirable place to live. We try daily to respect the disturbance to your life and minimize those impacts by continually reorganizing the site and keeping things tidy. Keeping a clean work environment fosters a unique respect for your home and property and we find it encourages neater work and a greater sense of pride at the end of the day.

We like to say renovation is like boxing – the best fighters can’t win and the best designed buildings can’t be built without effective management. Revival Construction has the knowledge and dedication needed to complete your project on time, on budget, and using the finest craftsmen available. Like everything we do, our approach to construction management is based on a belief that there is a right way to do things. After years of watching what not to do, our team has developed a system that anticipates problems and delays while remaining agile and realistic.

One of the biggest problems facing construction projects today is a fundamental lack of communication between subcontractors. Whether it be a language barrier, poor scheduling, or a general failure in creating professional relationships, this gap produces delays, leads to awkward transitions between trades, and contributes again to more delays or worse yet, a reduction in project quality. By using quality subcontractors, many of which are familiar with each other, Revival works hard to create a team of professionals suited for your project. Pre-construction meetings, walk-throughs, and job-site communication tools such as a "questions and problems" boards enable us to keep the job running smoothly. We understand that happy subcontractors ultimately mean satisfied clients.

PRESERVATION AND HISTORIC WORK

A core of traditional building skills makes Revival a perfect fit for restoration, sensitive renovation, and other historic projects. In addition, saving old structures works well with our company philosophy, by adapting antiquated buildings for modern use we can successfully promote local history, keep waste from landfills, and build on the beauty of history that permeates these properties. Many have said something similar to "they don't make em' like they used too." This couldn't be more appropriate for many old buildings, some of which have withstood the test of multiple centuries.

At Revival, we are prepared to take on the most challenging historic projects, maintaining historic integrity while adding the convenience of modern amenities and construction technique. We have completed projects as small as reproducing historic moldings to larger, complex barn renovation including foundation work and structural repair.

Also, we are now offering historically accurate and individually inspired outbuildings, including outhouses, corn cribs, wagon houses, garages, animal shelters, meditation spaces and studios. Traditionally inspired structures for today's uses, made with new and recycled materials!

PROFESSIONAL WOODWORKING

In addition to being a full service construction company, we also have a complete woodworking shop capable of producing everything from reproduction architectural details to custom cut moldings that compliment your building project. We approach this craft with the same dedication and skill as any larger building project. A foundation of hand tool skills combined with mastery of modern power equipment gives us the know-how to handle the most interesting jobs. When engaging in fine woodworking, no element is too small to receive good design and dedicated execution. This is the joy of craftsmanship, whereby a strong purpose is woven into every joint, shape, or carving.

In woodworking, you can also find the green foundations of this company. The shop is sited in a renovated calf barn, and built using almost entirely recycled materials from other projects. Most everything but the nails and concrete are pre-loved in this Frankenstein. Like other spaces we create, the result is a unique and inspiring place filled with stories and interesting features. Even more, the woodworking shop enables you to "show your colors" by choosing select grade reclaimed lumber or materials harvested from sustainably managed forests. Further, everything from the glues we use to the paint/finishes are carefully selected for things like organic materials, low toxicity, and environmental responsibility. TIMBER FRAMING

In thinking of traditional building, few things bear the distinction, beauty and durability of timber frame construction. Few can argue the sturdiness, heft, and durability of mortise and tenon construction using heavy timbers. The last few decades have seen resurgence of this nearly forgotten craft. Today we can enjoy the benefits of full integration of this method into modern construction. The development of engineering, methodology and production joinery have provided seamless integration of timber frame trusses, additions, entryways, and other architectural elements.

We are able to provide these products in the small scale using our own facilities, and in larger form through the use of national timber frame companies like Bensonwood Homes.
