Three tired bathrooms, two thorough clients, and one dedicated contractor combined for great results. Bathrooms are tiny but complicated spaces, and these three rooms are perfect examples. The homeowners challenged us to find the healthiest, resource conscious material, and we accepted. We examined every detail from the tile to the trim. Many of the tiles are hand made and built of recycled material.
We made all three vanities in the shop, and continued the pursuit of low impact living. All cases are domestic, formaldehyde free plywood. Solid wood for doors and face frames are locally sourced from sustainable forests and milled right here in our shop. We applied zero VOC finishes rubbed them by hand for a warm feel. Counters are made of recycled glass and concrete from a local supplier and provide a nice color contrast to simple white plumbing fixtures. Toilets are all dual flush and complimented by matching low flow shower valving and bright chrome faucets.
Although painted trim hides its FSC certified labeling and we might never see the recycled denim insulation behind wallboard made from recycled material, we can still feel good about another complete, healthy project.
